While we were at it, we also added a “mode”-selector to both of the “Mix” tools. The different modes (not every one looks good in all situations) allow a bunch of new effects. Here’s one using “Dodge” mode.

Erm, now there’s one more thing. We accidently  dumped the “Position”-selector in the “Mix with other Photo” tool. This must have happened shortly before the relaunch. Well, long story short, it’s back. Sorrrry.

Finally, we have a 中文(简体) version of Phixr in the pipeline. The translation is in progress.

To be honest, it’s not really a Facebook app. Phixr’s interface is too big to fit into Facebook’s small working area, and re-sizing it would leave you with an unusable miniture. So we decided to integrate at least a part of Phixr into Facebook.  In essence, you can login, sign-up and select the photo to edit inside Facebook, the rest will be happening in a new window or tab.

BTW, if you like Phixr, we’d be grateful for a review (clicking on the stars does nicely, if you are lazy) or if you even became a fan. Not fishing here, really.

BTW perhaps this new blog page (to which we transferred all our old blog posts from our old, slightly primitive blog page) will help gather the crowd. Hm. Phixr really lacks the social aspect. What if we added some sort of what’s-hot-and-what-not of phixr work…? Would that be appreciated by the masses?

• new “comic” and “printed comic” special effects (see demo image);
• new “comic border” in the border tool (see demo image);
• the “mix with preset image” tool now includes not only patterns, but also objects (like a heart, a light bulb, a party hat, etc) that can be inserted into your image. Also, this tool now uses the selection.
• automatic update of the selection: if you move or otherwise change it, any tool window using the selection will automatically update.
• the “lomo effect” is now much faster;
• bugfixes in speech bubble (yes, again). We apologize for eventual inconveniences (yes, again).
• better handling in tool windows, and much more.

Under the hood, the news are mainly that we are running on a new server farm. Twice as many CPUs, twice the memory. That should do for a while… Happy phixing, dudes

• Phixr now supports uploading photos to Twitter! You can tweet directly from inside Phixr now.
• Phixr now has a new Facebook entry page. You can choose the photo to edit directly from within Facebook, without the cumbersome step of authorizing Phixr first.
• Phixr has a new way to transfer photos from Photobucket and we now also support group albums.
• We improved SmugMug support. This is much faster now.
• Photo rotation is improved. You can now rotate photos of any size. However, larger photos will be clipped to the actual photo area, no background added.
• You can now print your photo on your local printer.
• Bugfixes in speech bubble, lomo and round corners tools. We apologize for eventual inconveniences.
