Some new effects

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Hi everyone…  just some minor new stuff, which nevertheless might come handy:

  • New “bronze” and “retro” effects in Color effects:

    Bronze (Color effects)

    Bronze (Color effects)

  • “Glossy” textures and two “glossy” borders in Decorate tool: (On a sidenote, the Crop tool can now be used to make avatars more easily, and it can make your avatar glossy in one single step.)

  • Re-did some of our older decorations, especially the starglitter and sparkling borders:

  • Undo and redo now work with less hassle – no annoying window no more. Undo and redo now undo and redo immediately. – The revert feature (which reverts to the originally uploaded photo) is now found in the thumbnail area – in shape of a small blue arrow.

Well, that’s a wrap. But stay tuned, more to come.

New effects

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Here we go again. Some of the new stuff online as of now:

  • Selective b/w: Found in Color effects, this tool is for turning a photo into a b/w photo, except for certain parts. You can select a color that is to remain unchanged, or vice versa. For example:

  • New Warholize effect (in Color effects): We had an effect of this name for a while, but we were never satisfied with the results. Therefore, we decided to re-do this one (the old one is still available):

  • New Lego effect: Found in Blur/soften/distort effects. The block size is variable.

  • New Television effect (in Camera & lens effects), some new decorations (eg. “Censored” stamp):

  • New fun & greeting cards:

  • Perhaps a bit late, but better late than never: The popular Obama-poster style found its way into our effect library: Election ad effect in Color effects. The sample below shows the optional border and optional space for text.

That’s a wrap, have fun!

November news

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Previously on Phixr:

  • Adding decorations is now much easier: You can resize and relocate your decoration not only through the selection in the main window, but also from within the preview window. This also works for the Color tools, the “Geometric shapes“- and “Speechbubble“-tools as well as for  the “Collage / Mix (combine) photos” tool. Also, the selection can now be moved beyond the photo’s edges. This means that e.g. decorations can be placed partly outside of the photo.

  • Christmas and New Year’s Eve decorations and borders are now publicly available; however, we were kind of late when we started designing them, so some of them are still in the queue and will come within the next few days.
  • Phixr is again faster due to some internal changes.

As always, happy phixing!

New decorations’n’stuff

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Yesterday’s update brought an improved decoration tool, now allowing to rotate and pixel-wise adjust objects, as well as some new decorations, such as new objects (ink stains, new party hats, etc) and fire and frost borders:

We also gave the border/frame tool a slight overhaul and added a new border type:

Mixin’ time

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Yesterday we were bored. Terribly bored. Until someone had the idea to check out MySpace for their members’ current in-stuff. A few minutes later, we added some more images to the “Mix with preset images”-tool. Folks, now you can finally create those neat “glittering” graphics using Phixr. These seem to be extremely popular among the MySpace crowd.

While we were at it, we also added a “mode”-selector to both of the “Mix” tools. The different modes (not every one looks good in all situations) allow a bunch of new effects. Here’s one using “Dodge” mode.

And here’s another one. The same image mixed twice, each time using a different “Copy XXX channel” mode:

Erm, now there’s one more thing. We accidently  dumped the “Position”-selector in the “Mix with other Photo” tool. This must have happened shortly before the relaunch. Well, long story short, it’s back. Sorrrry.

Finally, we have a 中文(简体) version of Phixr in the pipeline. The translation is in progress.
